Colon Cleanse Tips Archives

If you ask the average person how many bowel movements they have on a regular basis, you might get a slap in the face or a look of disgust, but it’s a vital question to check and regulate the health of your colon and digestive tract.  It’s important to recognize that not everyone should have the same number of bowel movements.  For one person’s body, a daily visit to the bathrooom would be fine, and for someone else, the normality would be every other day for a seat on the commode.

But if you are having a bowel movement just once a week or even less frequently than you probably have a problem with the health of your colon, and a colon cleanse would be a great idea.   It also depends on how much you eat and how often you eat.  It can take anywhere from 24- 72 hours for your meal to be digested and leave your body.  If it is in there any longer than that then you have rotting decaying waste sitting in your body and it can be anything but good.

So it’s ok if you don’t have a bowel movement every single day.  You know your body and how frequent they should be.  Even if that guy on TV says you should be going every day, that may not be so.   Everything that goes in must come out or it can result in disease or sickness at the least.  Normally you will experience some stomach cramps and other pains if your bowel movements are too infrequent.

I recently met someone who said they only pooped once a week and sometimes once every 2 weeks.  This is definitely not good.  But the amazing part is that she said that once she started working out after joining a local YMCA she started having much more frequent bowel movements.  This is why exercise can not only be agreat way to lose weight but a great way to keep your colon clean.  The more you get that blood flowing the better off you will be.

If you are pregnant and wondering if you should be doing a colon cleanse system at the same time you may want to stop and consider what type of cleanse you are doing.  This should be obvious but you should always check the label of any colon cleanse medication you are taking.  Usually there be a label that says something to the effect of not taking the medication if nursing or pregnant.

For most ALL types of colon cleansing pills or medication I recommend you completely STOP taking any of it if you are pregnant.  There can be serious side effects for you and the health of your baby and you don’t want to put that at risk.  How serious can it be?  Well I have heard from a nurse that you can lose your child if you continue the use of those purging pills, whether it be Colonix, Dual Action, or any other type of medication.

Now there are natural methods you can try to cleaning out your digestive tract and these include getting lots of fiber, eating leafy green vegetables and fruits, drinking a ton of water, and some others.  The only natural method I do not recommend during your pregnancy is fasting.  Your baby needs that nutrition so don’t stop eating.. just eat right when you can.

Colon Cleansing is all the rage these days but the question is… is a colon cleanse right for everyone?  There are those who will criticize the idea and say that your body should naturally be able to dispose of any unwanted toxins and waste from your body without any added supplement or digestive procedure.   But sometimes intervention can be the only true solution for your problems with your colon and energy levels.

True, if we all lived healthy lives and ate all the right things all the time, and exercised like we should ALL the time we may not need a colon cleanse and our bodies should be able to take of themselves without our help.  But the truth of the matter is, none of us are able to live that way.  We live busy lives and sometimes have to eat something that is not part of the food pyramid.  Sometimes we don’t have time to work out and keep in shape and our digestive system suffers from that.  To ignore these truths is dangerous for your colon health and should be warned against.

Fiber is not a regular part of everyone’s diet, and the more we eat out the more potential we have for digestive problems down the road.  For as must as our colon goes through, it has a lot go through it as well.  We eat fast food and are inundated with commercials for unhealthy foods.  This causes toxins to build up in our colons and will lead to problems like fatigue, constipation, and obesity.  And this is just the beginning of the health problems we will face.

So is a homemade colon cleanse the right move for you?

If done right, colon cleansing will be a great solution for anyone, even if you are not currently suffering ailments right now from an unhealthy digestive tract.  But supplemental pills and medicine should not be taken if you have not already taken the first steps in changing your lifestyle to exercise more and start eating right.  It may sound elementary but it is crucial.

It has been said that there are 3 main components in keeping a healthy colon.

  1. Eat right
  2. Sleep soundly
  3. Exercise daily

Now you don’t have to have a full work out daily.  but just do simple things on a regular basis like take the stairs instead of the elevator or do a little something to get your blood flowing. If you decide that a colon cleanse is a good solution for you you should consider a few other things as well.  Always consult with your doctor to make sure this colon cleanse will not lead to other serious problems.  Also, you should be aware of some of the gimics that are out there, trying to get you to buy their colon cleansing products that simply do not work.  Use what has been working for centuries.

Also, and this cannot be strained enough, you need to drink lots and lots of water every day.  You may not be thirsty, but your body is, and you would be amazed at how much healthier you would be if you just drank 8 glasses of water every day.  Your body needs this fluid to function properly just as your car needs oil, so don’t neglect this simple advice.

There are all kinds of homemade colon cleansing “remedies” people have out there.  And new methods are popping up all the time.  But if you believe all of the hype you are just going to be confused about what works and what doesn’t work when it comes to keeping your colon clean and healthy.  But there are some rather effective treatments that have been going around that you might want to look into.  These are herbal colon cleansing treatments that should supplement your diet and can be found at any nutritional health food store.

Even at your own home you can have an effective way to clean those toxins out of your body, but some of the stuff that is stuck to the walls of your colon will be much harder to get out.

The undigested fical matter, as nasty as it is to think about, can cause all kinds of problems if you just ignore that it is there.  The body cannot absorb any nutrients from this stuff and it will become toxic the longer it stays in there, effecting all kinds of other parts of the body as you feel weak and tired.  It has been estimated that the average person in America has up to 15 pounds of this waste just sitting in their colons, rotting away.

Some of the stronger herbal cleansers will actually scrub away at the wall of the colon, allowing the digestive system to be running properly.  The herbs will than lightly push out the old toxic junk and give you more energy than you’ve had before.

Now many homemade treatments cannot give you these kinds of results but that is simply because many people don’t have the right herbs at home.  But you can pick up some of these herbs from your local store, so in that sense it can still be a homemade remedy.
