Have you been looking for a colon cleansing formula? There are all kinds of natural ingredients you can try to flush out your system of harmful toxins that get gunked up in your digestive system, but here are some formulas that may work best for you, and best of all, most of them can be tried at home as well.

First of all, any kind of formula should have natural ingredients that will not cause any major side effects except for a cleansing of the system. And just because it is natural does not mean that it will actually be good for you. Poison Ivy is natural, but not recommended for ingestion=).

Psyllium Husk:

Psyllium husk is an integral part of the cleansing formula and is a fiber filled with complex carbs.   In addition to helping with constipation it is also used for treatments with yeast infections, INS (irritable Bowel Syndrome), and weight loss.  If taken too much  you may experience some diarrhea but this is also part of the internal cleansing taking place.  Just make sure it does not last longer than 1 day.  I always look for psyllium husk in all of my colon cleansing products.

Bentonite Clay:

Sure it sounds weird, but bentonite clay is like a taxi cab for the toxins in the body.  It picks them up and carries them out.  This stuff is in almost any reputable product and acts like a vacuum to help you eliminate things like parasites, poisons, pathogens, and bad bacteria.  This clay is one of the best things you can take to remove all of the waste just sitting there clogging up the colon.  You will most definitely feel more energetic after taking this “colon sponge” that absorbs all the bad stuff in there.

Cascara Sagrada:

One important process of an internal cleanse of the digestive system is to make sure the muscles that move the food in your colon are operating properly.  This undulating action works great in a healthy colon and moves things along.  By taking Cascara Sagrada you can make sure you condition the muscles in your intestinal tract.

Flax Seed:

I have seen this natural ingredient in almost every colon cleanse product I have seen as well.  It’s the part of the formula that also relieves constipation.  Flax seed is rich in Omega 3’s and is also great for your heart and skin.

Worm Seed:

I’m glad this one is better than it sounds.  It does not involve “worms” of any kind but worm seed is effective at removing worms from your system if they are in there.  It will also remove all kinds of other parasites and relieve the constipation that is associated with them.  If you are pregnant or breastfeeding you should not take wormseed.

Probiotics:

Any good colon cleansing formula will also contain some probiotics which are micro-organisms that will help to keep the good bacteria and fight off the bad.  I don’t know how it can tell the difference but it can!  A steady diet of these probiotics would be great for anyone.

  • 4 ounces of castor oil, followed by warm water enemas
  • magnesium citrate
  • east several bowls of oatmeal
  • prune juice, apple sauce, and bran
  • vegetable oil in black coffee
  • yogurt with probiotic cultures
  • mint tea with honey
  • flaxseed
  • 1 teaspoon of salt in 20 ounces of water
  • lots of soups
  • lemon juice, maple syrup, water, cyenne pepper
  • apple cider vinegar with plenty of fiber
  • omega 3
  • grape seed extract

There really is no magic pill you can take to completely solve your digestive problems and even many of the above solutions will not be right or even healthy if you don’t already know your current health status.  It is easier to keep your colon healthy than to try to cleanse it after getting everything clogged up.  But you would be surprised what some regular exercise would do for you.  Getting off the couch and onto the treadmill or hitting the basketball courts can help your blood flow as well as get your colon moving again as well.  I have known people who have had more regular bowel movements after beginning to exercise their bodies and that is another reason they have more energy now.  Also, just by drinking plenty of water we can keep everything clean in there and avoid having to take costly medicines.   Eating lots of processed foods will only lead to digestive issues so when you have to eat them make sure you don’t make a habit out of it.
